The very young singer from Yaiza, **Gabriela Rodríguez Medina**, 15 years old, is **nominated for the 2026 Tradition and Folklore Awards**, created to recognize, dignify, and promote the work of those individuals, groups, and initiatives that keep the essence of our Canarian customs and roots alive, as stated by the organization of these regional awards, which **keeps its online public voting open** until Saturday, March 14, at the following linkGabriela is the only voice from Lanzarote nominated in the **Semilla Canaria category**. Thus, the City Council, presided over by Óscar Noda, encourages the people of Lanzarote to support this talented artist with their vote. She is a member of the Rubicón de Yaiza Folkloric Group and also performs with the Guágaro Cultural Musical Association from the neighboring municipality of Tías.

Gabriela has participated in folk festivals, solo performances, and popular music gatherings in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura and was invited last year to the television program Tenderete on RTVE Canarias.

The 2026 Tradition and Folklore Awards **propose six categories:** Best Project, Craftsmanship, Folklore Group, Canarian Seed, Cultural Collective, and Living Memory. For a vote to be valid, it is necessary to choose one option per category, and the system is prepared to reject duplicate votes. The 2026 Tradition and Folklore Awards ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 7:00 PM, in the Auditorium of the University of La Laguna, on the island of Tenerife.
