Last Sunday, the San Bartolomé City Council materialized the recognition of the neighbor, José García Corujo, better known as "Fefo".

The event carried out by the Department of Crafts, directed by Ana María López, was attended by the acting mayor Isidro Pérez and some councilors of the municipal corporation.

The chosen stage was the Municipal Theater where a gala directed by Orlando Callero was held, which stood out for its simplicity and great quality. One of the performances was by the young Lanzarote native Izan Ortega, a prominent voice as a soloist who was accompanied by his timple and performed an isa dedicated to the camel, to that "White Camel", to which Fefo dedicated a book.

For her part, Desiré Hernández participated by reciting some poetic notes provided by the neighbor Reyes Tabares in which the legacy of pottery was valued, especially the work done by Fefo García. Another moment that the public liked very much was the performance of the Tenerife Ballet, which performed an elegant choreography where the couple more than earned the applause of the public.

When the moment of recognition arrived, the protagonist Fefo García, accompanied by his wife Rosario Pérez, went on stage where they were greeted by the mayor and the councilor. In addition, it was used to present an informative guide entitled Arrimando el Hombro, in which Fefo García introduces several didactic notes for the manufacture of traditional Canarian pottery in great detail.

Fefo García addressed the authorities from the stage, thanking them for the recognition and the public present for making an appearance and sharing it with him as well. The event ended with the intervention of the singer Belén Álvarez and her musical show "La Jalada", performing traditional themes fused with electronic music, respecting the root of origin.

The attendees were given the Arrimando el Hombro guide, so that they can delve much deeper into how the process is carried out until a piece of pottery is shaped.
