The Guardamar Urania of Salvamento Marítimo set out on Tuesday morning in search of approximately 38 people traveling aboard a makeshift vessel near Lanzarote.
The alert was given early in the morning, around 7:00 AM. The aforementioned Salvamento Marítimo vessel moved to the north of Lanzarote and located nearly 40 people on board east of La Graciosa.
As La Voz has learned, there are at least three women and two minors on the inflatable boat.
According to the Consortium of Security and Emergencies, this vessel was spotted by a fishing boat sailing in the area. After mobilizing the rescue team, the possibility of also activating the Salvamento helicopter was considered, given that a minor and a woman needed assistance, although their transfer was ultimately not necessary.
In addition to Salvamento Marítimo, agents from the Guardia Civil, the Cuerpo Nacional de Policía, and the Red Cross were mobilized for the rescue, and they will attend to the survivors upon their arrival at the Port of Arrecife, expected around 12:55 PM.
