Joaquín Sabina has put an end to years of hypotheses and speculations among his fans. In an interview given to the newspaper El Comercio, before offering a concert in Gijón, the singer has finally confessed what the setting is for one of his legendary songs. And although many "towns with a sea" in Spain were vying for that title, the truth is that it was in Lanzarote where he met that woman "at the bar of a bar", more than two decades ago.

"The good thing about songs is that in that case it applies to all places that have a sea, that's why one writes them. But it was Lanzarote!", Sabina replied to the journalist, when he asked him if he didn't meet the girl in Gijón, as the "legend" said in that town.

Although not all of Sabina's stories are based on real events, many of them are, or at least are inspired by experiences lived by the artist. And in the case of "Y nos dieron las diez...", there has always been a real basis in the story, which has now been confirmed.

Maybe it wasn't "after a concert", or in the "only bar we saw open". Maybe she didn't ask him to sing her "a song in her ear" in exchange for a "cubata". Maybe he didn't reply: "On one condition, that you leave the balcony of your cat eyes open to me". Or maybe he did.

In any case, that will remain a mystery and fuel legends among the artist's followers. What he now acknowledges is that he spent "ten and eleven, twelve and one and two and three" with a woman from Lanzarote, who inspired one of his most popular songs. The song, of which Enrique Urquijo also made his own version, is included in the album "Física y Química", which was released in 1992.
