A total of 89 passengers could not take off this past Wednesday on Ryanair flight FR4756 which departed at 15:15 from César Manrique Airport - Lanzarote bound for Bristol, in the United Kingdom.

According to what La Voz has learned, the problem originated at the passenger border control where travelers outside the Schengen area must pass to stamp their passports. Many times, long queues form in this service, causing flight delays.

In this case, the company decided not to wait for all passengers to go through this border control and removed their bags from the aircraft, something that took almost an hour.

After that, the plane took off leaving almost a hundred on the ground and the flight arrived in the English city with 46 minutes of delay.

It is not the first time that this type of incident has occurred at Lanzarote Airport. In February 2025, the simultaneous arrival of seventeen non-EU flights collapsed the airport as they had to stamp their passports upon arrival. In this regard, witnesses indicated that the problem is that "there is not enough Policía Nacional staff to carry out passport controls, both for arrival and departure for flights to non-Schengen territories".

The president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, José Valle, already warned in August 2025 of his concern regarding the implementation of the new European entry and exit control system EES (Entry/Exit System), when he assured that it could cause "serious collapses" at Lanzarote airport.
