The El Reducto City Council has reopened El Reducto beach for swimming after the latest Public Health analyses, after it was closed on October 15 due to fecal spills, a total of 16 days. This morning, the Emergency Consortium reported that the red flag was still flying on the beach, but the City Council has confirmed to this newsroom that, after a new report, the green light has been given to open the beach for swimming due to negative analyses by Public Health.
As indicated by the City Council initially, the appearance of the spills took place in the area of the Emisario, in Punta del Camello, but the Water Consortium attributes the fecal contamination in El Reducto to leaks from a spillway.
