Last Friday, June 2, the Red Cross Delegation in Lanzarote presented the Gold Draw campaign under the slogan "Looks like Gold, it is Red Cross". The event, held at the municipal theater of Tías, was attended by the president of the Red Cross in Lanzarote, Raquel Galindo, and volunteer staff, who were also joined by the acting Councilor for Culture of the Tías City Council, Pepa González.
The event featured the collaboration of two great musicians from Lanzarote, José Vicente Pérez and Adrián Niz, young people who showed solidarity by responding to the call of the Red Cross without hesitation, making themselves available and bringing their concert called "Acoustic" to the stage. José Vicente Pérez with the timple and Adrián Niz with the guitar captivated the audience with a work that transcended the stage, where timple and guitar merged, performing great songs by composers such as: Juan Gabriel, Gerardo Matos, Bob Marley, The Cranberries, Beatles, among others, also letting some compositions with Canarian touches slip in, to which the public responded with applause.
The day also had a section for history where Raquel Galindo, president of the Red Cross, and Pepa González, acting Councilor for Culture, looking back in time, recalled how the NGO had been established in Lanzarote in Pepa González's family home in Arrecife, with her mother holding the position of first island president.
Josefa Díaz, who passed away in 2010, and a year later in 2011 posthumously, was distinguished with the "Gold Medal of the Red Cross" at the national level, very emotional moments experienced between Raquel and Pepa. Once the concert was over, José Vicente and Adrián received a sculpture as a token of gratitude for their collaboration and dedication to the Red Cross Lanzarote.
"Gold Draw", a draw is much more than it seems, it has been more than 40 years that the Red Cross has been holding the draw and this year, the 10 tickets reflect 10 ways to support the work of the Red Cross, under the slogan "Looks like Gold, it is Red Cross". This year the draw will take place in Malaga, on July 20, with up to 11,700 prizes to distribute more than 7,000,000 euros.
