Ray Zapata has landed in Lanzarote this Friday weeks after winning his silver medal in Tokyo.
The gymnast has had an emotional reception from colleagues and coaches of the Isla de Lanzarote Club, where the Olympian began his sports career.
Around 1:00 p.m. a large group of club members gathered at the exit doors. Girls and boys were waiting for him with banners that read "We love you" or "Welcome", and even the youngest of the group brought him a bouquet of flowers. Ray received the expressions of affection with emotion and happiness and proudly showed them his silver medal that he wore on his neck.
Zapata has returned to the island with his wife and daughter to enjoy a well-deserved rest.
