Generations of Lanzaroteños passed through his studio, a symbol of Arrecife's memory and identity

This Friday, Rafael Hernández Cabrera, a renowned photographer from Lanzarote and one of Arrecife's most beloved figures, has passed away. For decades, his photography studio bore witness to generations of Lanzarote families, who came to him to immortalize the most important moments of their lives.

In addition to his work in family portraiture, Rafael Hernández Cabrera stood out for his presence at numerous popular events and celebrations, especially during the capital's carnivals, which he documented with his camera for years, leaving a valuable visual testament to the island's recent history.Belonging to one of Arrecife's best-known and most beloved families, Rafael leaves behind a great human and professional legacy. His son, Rafael Hernández, was president of the Red Cross in Lanzarote, thus continuing the family's commitment to the community.

The wake is set up at the Mémora funeral home, and the funeral will take place this Saturday at 11:00 AM, after which his remains will be transferred to the Arrecife cemetery.
