Puerto del Carmen could not be oblivious to such a colorful party and has already presented its carnival party calendar, which begins on Thursday, February 7 and culminates on Sunday, February 10.
The first to give their all in Carnival 2008 will be the "Los Gruñones" band, the "Chimbay" batucada, the "Las Revoltosas" murga and the "Timanfeiros" troupe, who will perform from 9:00 p.m. on Avenida de las Playas on Thursday. Then, from 11:00 p.m., the "Mambo Bueno" orchestra will liven up the night dance.
The party returns the next day with the Grand Carnival Gala, which will feature the show by the Extravaganza group "Olympus of the Drags" and performances by the "Guaracheros" and "Sur Caliente" troupes on Avenida de las Playas. Then, Grand Dance with the "Malibu Band" orchestra and Dj "Nandy".
You will have to wait until Saturday at 5:00 p.m. to enjoy the Grand Carnival Parade of Puerto del Carmen, which will depart from Barcarola, on Avenida de las Playas and extend to Fariones Playa. Those who want to continue the party, from 9:00 p.m. the all-night dance begins with the music again from the "Malibu Band" orchestra and Dj "Nandy", as well as "Mambo Bueno".
The feathers and wigs will have to return to their respective drawers and closets after the celebration of the Children's Carnival on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at the "Unión Sur" Society of Tías, a party with which the Carnival in the municipality ends for this year.
La Candelaria and San Blas
The mayor of the municipality, accompanied by other members of the corporation, including councilor Paca Toledo, also presented the program of festivities of La Candelaria and San Blas, which run from this Monday with the envite championship at the social venue of the "Los Gruñones" murga and the women's ball championship at the "Unión Sur de Tías" Society, until February 3, San Blas Day.
The program includes an extensive calendar of events that includes dances, sports tournaments and religious events. Although most events are concentrated between January 21 and February 3, the end of the party will arrive on Saturday the 16th with the celebration of the II "La Candelaria" rally, organized by the "Racing Tías-Lanzarote" Team.
