The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands begins this Friday to administer the booster dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 without an appointment to people between 60 and 69 years of age, that is, those born between 1952 and 1961 and who have completed their vaccination with two doses.
In the case of having received two doses of Pfizer or Moderna, the booster dose may be received after six months. In this same age range, and in the case of having received the Janssen vaccine or two doses of AstraZeneca, the booster dose may be administered after three months.
Likewise, people under 60 years of age who were vaccinated with Janssen can receive their dose after three months with or without an appointment at the points and times enabled.
This vaccine is also being inoculated to healthcare personnel in Primary and hospital care and to social healthcare workers in public and private centers for the elderly and disabled.
In addition, a booster dose will be administered to people in disability care centers and to patients with high-risk conditions and those receiving treatment with immunosuppressive drugs.
For weeks, people aged 70 or older, people in nursing homes and those vaccinated with Janssen, regardless of their age, have been vaccinated with this booster dose and can make an appointment through 012 or go without an appointment to the mass vaccination points. Patients with high-risk conditions and those receiving treatment with immunosuppressive drugs are also already receiving their additional dose.
The Valterra Health Center, vaccination point on weekends
In the case of Lanzarote, the Health Area has enabled the Valterra Health Center, in Arrecife, during weekends and holidays as a vaccination point against Covid-19 to reinforce the immunization process.
This space, which will have the capacity to inject a maximum of 726 doses per day and does not require prior appointment, will be operational from this Friday, November 26, until December 19, from 08:00 to 19:00 hours.
On the other hand, all the health centers on the Island have already begun to administer the booster dose to those over 60 years of age who were vaccinated at least six months ago and to people vaccinated with Janssen at least three months ago.
In parallel, the Lanzarote health teams continue to vaccinate the target population against Covid-19, that is, those people who are 12 years of age or older and who have not received any dose of the coronavirus vaccine, as well as those who require the second dose and meet the waiting periods established in the vaccination schedule of each laboratory. Also to people considered to be at high risk who require additional doses.
To speed up the vaccination process and optimize resources, the Ministry of Health has also enabled the telephone numbers 928 47 89 50 and 928 47 89 64 to request an appointment to receive any of these doses of the vaccine.
