Pedro Méndez 'Pedrí' has died at the age of 67 this Friday, December 8, after suffering a heart attack. 'Pedrín' as he was known was a man of the sea and for the last 16 years was in charge of the GES-Emerlan Rescue boat.
In November of last year, Emerlan threw him a party for his retirement. From the NGO they recalled that from his position for 16 years on the Emerlan Rescue boat "there have been many lives that this good man has helped rescue and save, in addition to many aids to drifting boats or other services." "He didn't care about the night, the day, the time or how the sea was calm, rough or strong swell if someone had problems there he was waiting to go out for him", they added.
'Pedrín' leaves behind his wife Francisca Blanco Iglesias, sons Pedro José and Jenny Méndez Blanco and daughter - granddaughter Ainara.
His wake is installed in Alianza Canaria and this Monday at 12:00 a mass will take place where the word of God will be said to him.
