Patera rescued northeast of Lanzarote

Maritime Rescue rescued a precarious boat in the early hours of this Friday, January 3, with several migrants on board, according to the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES).

There were 57 people in the inflatable boat, 45 men, 10 women, two of them pregnant, and two minors, and their origin is currently unknown.

The boat was located at approximately 1:50 a.m. northeast of the island. The Guardamar Talía went to the scene to rescue them and they are currently being transferred to Puerto Naos in Arrecife where they will be assisted by the Red Cross.
