The residents of La Graciosa are astonished and outraged after the recent campaign for Canary Islands Day carried out by Guaguas Municipales, the municipal transport company of the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. In eight of its buses, the company disseminates images of the eight islands with a personalized greeting for each of them, although with an error, since it confuses the islet of Lobos with La Graciosa.
The islet located north of Fuerteventura thus illustrates a poster that was actually dedicated to La Graciosa. At the top it reads "Hello La Graciosa!", with the islet of Lobos in the foreground and the south of Lanzarote in the background.
The reactions on social networks of the residents of La Graciosa and also of other users to the slip-up by Guaguas Municipales have not been long in coming. The councilor of the Popular Party in the City Council of Teguise, the resident of La Graciosa, Nieves Arrocha, published on her Instagram account: "Someone call @guaguasmunicipales and explain to them that this is Isla de Lobos and not La Graciosa. Please, let's feel proud of who we are and defend what is ours as it should be".
Other users have also reacted to the publication, complaining about the error of the public bus company of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
