A resident of Lanzarote has reported a new episode of "inflated" bills from Canal Gestión, and in her case they have demanded the payment of 1,600 euros for a bill from her home, which was closed and with the stopcock closed.
"I live outside of Lanzarote and without prior notice they removed the meter, and it was later when they notified me that it was damaged and that they were going to change it," explains the affected party to La Voz de Lanzarote. From there, she began to receive bills with higher consumption, one of them reaching 1,600 euros, as a result of an alleged fault in the pipes of her home.
Likewise, the affected party reports that the water pressure could be one of the causes of the faults. "They have broken the pipes twice in a house that was not yet due for that type of break according to my plumbers," says the resident, who through her lawyer has filed claims with the company that manages the water in Lanzarote, although she maintains that they have not served to solve the problem.
"I requested that they give me the meter to make a real reading, because according to them they removed the meter because it was in poor condition, just as I asked that the bill be withdrawn due to negligence, since the law says that they have to give notice of that removal," adds the resident.
In addition, there are more residents in the area, and her relatives, who are also suffering these abusive bills from Canal Gestión Lanzarote: "My mother, 84 years old, has also suffered abusive bills with the tap closed, and also suffered a removal of the meter without prior notice." In this case, Canal Gestión sent her mother a bill for more than 1,800 euros, a payment that she has not been able to face.
Another example given by the affected party is the case of her sister and her partner, who also assures that in this case "they have verified that there are no leaks that justify the fault," and that has caused them to receive a bill for almost 2,000 euros of water.
