The Islote de Fermina remains closed to the public, but it could make the leap to the screen through Netflix. The company has set its sights on this space, which could become the location for another blockbuster with the Lanzarote footprint.
In addition, as pointed out by the CEO of the Tourist Centers, Benjamín Perdomo, other production companies are also currently negotiating with the entity to film both in the Cueva de Los Verdes and in Jameos del Agua.
These projects could be added to the one currently filming on the island by Apple TV, which is filming the second season of "Foundation" at the Mirador del Río and will do so at the end of the week at the Jardín de Cactus. In addition, that series will include other landscapes of Lanzarote, and for the moment it is also filming in the Guinate area.
A growing commitment to filming on the island
Cinema has been looking at Lanzarote for decades, but in recent years these shootings have been increasing. Last year alone, Netflix itself was on the island filming some scenes of "Welcome to Eden" for three weeks.
In addition, the "Foundation" team had already been there, which for the first season of the series filmed for a week in Lanzarote, and will now spend more time on the island.
Also last year, two films were shot on the island: "Maret" and "The Family". The latter, by German director Sönke Worthmann, was filmed almost entirely here. As for "Maret", by Luxembourgish director Laura Schroeder, it included locations such as Caleta de Famara.
