From the Canary Association Mujeres Sin Sombra, they demand greater institutional support and a specific protocol for those dependent women with severe disabilities.

According to their complaints, "the communication barriers, the lack of indicators on gender and sexual violence against them, the nullity by society and the lack of protection within the legal norms" make them not heard.

"We need urgent changes and necessary measures so that 60% of women with disabilities who suffer the highest rates of violence of any kind are valued and heard through their legal guardians who are their voice and their hands," they conclude.
