More than 15,000 Lanzarote residents, according to data from the Local Police, have once again demonstrated in Lanzarote against the oil explorations that Repsol wants to carry out on the nearby coasts of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

The demonstration has started from the Old Cabildo and has traveled along the Avenida Marítima in a good atmosphere, with entire families, children, parents and grandparents who wanted to show especially Minister Soria their rejection of the explorations that the Company wants to do.

The demonstration was led by activist Pedro Hernández who, together with a small platform, has been explaining, microphone in hand, the arguments why Lanzarote is positioned against the surveys.

The esplanade of the Fairgrounds has been the point of arrival for the protesters. In this place two manifestos have been read, one specifically against the explorations and another generic one related to the protests of 22 M, such as the cuts for health, the reform of the education law or the situation of evictions.
