Maritime Rescue has rescued a boat near the coast of Lanzarote this Tuesday morning, as reported by the Emergency Consortium. This is the first boat that has arrived since last October 19 when a boat with 44 migrants arrived.

It was the occupants of the boat who called to report that they saw land, according to Maritime Rescue. There are about 53 migrants traveling on the boat, 47 of Maghrebi origin and six sub-Saharans, all men and in apparent good health.

At this time they are being transferred to Puerto Naos where they will be assisted on land by the Red Cross.
