The residents of the town of Mácher celebrated this Saturday the great day of the Holy Patron Saint, Saint Peter the Apostle.

At 7:00 p.m. the celebration of the solemn Eucharist began, presided over by the priest, Francisco Javier Sánchez, assigned to the parish of Nuestra Señora de Belén de Fuenlabrada de Madrid and assisted by the parish priest of the municipality of Tías, Adrián Sosa Nuez.

The songs for such a special celebration were enlivened by the Marina Polyphonic Choir of Puerto del Carmen. Choir that was founded in the year 1997, presided over by Yolanda Suárez and currently has 20 members, all women directed by the professor, Miguel Ángel Carera. The musical chords were inspired by Canarian airs, giving the celebration a distinguished and very elegant touch. An performance that the parish priest Adrián Sosa took very much into account and at the end of the solemn Eucharist thanked them for their attendance and collaboration. The neighbors of Mácher, always willing to collaborate, gave voice to the readings. The celebrating priest based the homily on the life and work of the Patron Saint Saint Peter, the first Pope of the Catholic Church.

At the end of the Mass, the procession proceeded, with the Music Band 'La Unión de Lanzarote' leading the procession under the baton of Professor Alfonso Duro Cabezón, followed by the image of Saint Peter with the celebrating priests, authorities and parishioners. Upon returning inside the tent installed next to the socio-cultural center, the family of the Gaida Folk Group of Tías offered the Saint the most traditional songs and dances such as folías, isa de los palos and malagueña, ending with an isa parrandera. At the end, the image of Saint Peter the Apostle returned to the church being dismissed with loud applause.
