The Lanzarote photographer Juan Méndez Quesada has done it again. The prestigious nature magazine National Geographic has once again published one of his photographs of the landscapes of the island. This time the focus of his lens has been a sculpture of the white crabs that live in the Jameos del Agua next to the stars. This species, which can only be found on the island, is in danger of extinction.
To take this photograph a few years ago, Juan Méndez used the long exposure technique. According to him, taking advantage of the terrestrial movement, he captured the trace left by the stars seen from Earth.
"I wanted to take a night photograph in this emblematic poster of the island, the work of the great César Manrique, that day I made a long exposure of several minutes to be able to catch the trace of the stars in a poster that represents the Jameito, a crab in danger of extinction", Méndez pointed out in statements to La Voz.
This photograph was published on February 8 by the European Space Agency.
