A lifeless body has been rescued by divers from the Civil Guard's underwater operations (GEAS) in Los Charcones, in the south of Lanzarote. A young American in his twenties was visiting the area, famous on social media, when the waves surprised him along with three other friends.
That area was fenced off and access was prohibited due to the weather conditions, as the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) had issued a yellow alert for rough seas throughout the island.To prevent these types of incidents, the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium has announced that it will establish a surveillance system along the entire northwest, west, and southwest coast of Lanzarote and throughout the island of La Graciosa to prevent people from approaching the coastline.It should be noted that the northern and western parts of Lanzarote are under a **yellow alert for swell** this Wednesday and Thursday due to combined seas with waves that can reach between four and five meters.Among other measures, the Consortium is asking the island's various town councils to fly red flags on all beaches facing northeast, west, and southwest Lanzarote. In addition to mooring the fishing and sports fleets in ports facing this direction, as well as the fishing fleet of La GraciosaThe Emergency Consortium has requested that flood-prone areas of the municipality be signposted to prevent parking or activities in them, and that access to promenades, breakwaters, and dikes be controlled.In this regard, it has recommended that town councils clear the beaches "if appropriate" and prohibit swimming and sports and recreational activities in the sea
