The Castle of San José will be the main venue for the first edition of the Lanzarote Literature Festival. The International Museum of Contemporary Art (MIAC) will host these conferences from March 30, within the cultural action plan of the Tourist Centers.
In total, you can enjoy six talks offered by writers of different kinds. Under the slogan of "Letters of rofe and salt", the I Lanzarote Literature Festival will start with a talk by Aixa de la Cruz.
It will also feature the participation of writers of the quality of Marta Sanz, Sabina Urraca, Benjamín Prado, Andrés Neuman and Jesús Marchamalo. "All of them with a wide and recognized professional career," says a statement issued by the Tourist Centers.
The CEO of the Tourist Centers, Benjamín Perdomo, the Minister of Culture of the First Island Institution, Alberto Aguiar, and the director of the Lanzarote Literature Festival Group (FDLL), Carlos Battaglini, have presented the most relevant aspects of this first edition during an informative conference held this morning in the Islote de Fermina.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and of the Board of Directors of the Tourist Centers, María Dolores Corujo, has expressed her support for an "innovative and original initiative, which reflects our commitment to art and culture, and gives letters the space and prominence they deserve on the island for history and transcendence."
For his part, Benjamín Perdomo has celebrated a "very special initiative, which is the result of a firm commitment to give visibility to the talent, work and creativity of our young artists."
The CEO of the Tourist Centers has highlighted "the effort we are making to support the world of letters through the publication of publications with which we want to shed light on the work of emerging writers." In addition, he thanked Carlos Battaglini "for the motivation, interest and enthusiasm that he has infected us to launch a project that we want to consolidate over time."
In the same vein, the Minister of Culture of the First Island Institution, Alberto Aguiar, congratulated Battaglini for "having created a Festival that adds value to the cultural program of the Cabildo of Lanzarote."
Aguiar highlighted the "excellent collaboration that exists between the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Tourist Centers, which is decisive to launch very important initiatives for the island society such as this Festival, which aims, among other objectives, to promote the habit of reading, especially among the new generations."
Six literary talks with writers of different kinds
Carlos Battaglini has broken down a Festival that aims to "reinforce the island's literary offer with a quality program, composed of emerging and established writers, different in their views, but homogeneous in their quality. The Festival," he said, "aims to promote literature in Lanzarote by opening literary borders to everyone."
