International Women's Day Demonstration in Arrecife

Lanzarote takes to the streets on March 8, in commemoration of International Women's Day. Attendees were summoned at 7:00 p.m. in La Plazuela de Arrecife by the Feminist Platform March 8 Lanzarote, Women in La Ola and the Mararía Association.

Next, hundreds of women of all ages, and even some men, walked along the Avenida Marítima, passed through Calle Real and returned to La Plazuela in the capital city.

Several of the banners carried by the protesters referred to the eradication of gender violence and messages such as "Enough is enough", "Today all our voices are not here because dead people cannot shout" or "If tomorrow it is my turn, I want to be the last one" could be read.

In La Plazuela, women from the Feminist Platform March 8 Lanzarote read a manifesto to remember "the women who are no longer here" and continue to ensure "a future where human rights are respected".
