Lanzarote has reached maximum gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour in the first hours of Sunday. This is stated by the observatory of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Specifically, the Aemet station at Lanzarote Airport, in the municipality of San Bartolomé, reached its maximum gust, with 68 kilometers per hour at 10:00 a.m. on August 31. Meanwhile, the average wind speed hovered below 50 kilometers during the last hours of Saturday and early Sunday morning.
Thus, the wind was also strongly felt in the municipality of Tías. The Aemet station in the area reached 64 kilometers per hour of maximum gust on the afternoon of last Saturday. Meanwhile, the average wind speed has been below 50 kilometers per hour.
