Lanzarote adds four new Covid outbreaks, one of them at a birthday affecting 19 people

Across the Archipelago, the islands have registered 118 new outbreaks with 659 cases

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has notified four new Covid outbreaks in Lanzarote in the last week. One of them, of work origin originated in a birthday, and that already affects 19 people. 

In the whole Archipelago, the islands add 118 new outbreaks with 659 cases. These new outbreaks are distributed by islands as follows: 49 in Gran Canaria, 47 in Tenerife, 14 in Fuerteventura, four in Lanzarote, two in La Palma and two in La Gomera.

By area in which they have occurred, 38 are social, 35 family, 18 work, 16 educational, four sports, two health and two in socially vulnerable groups.

The largest outbreaks are eight, which exceed the figure of 10 infected people: a social one in a concert in a nightclub in Tenerife with 47 positives, which since it was detected on the 11th, registers an important daily increase of cases; a socio-health one in Gran Canaria with 32 people notified in a disability care center with 14 users, two workers and the rest relatives; the work one with 19 cases in Lanzarote; a sports one linked to soccer notified in Fuerteventura with 18 infected; a health one produced in the Hospital de La Candelaria with 16 cases (12 patients and 4 workers); a social one with 13 people affected in Tenerife; one with 13 infections in socially vulnerable groups in Gran Canaria, and one with 12 people involved notified in a pub in Tenerife

The family outbreaks, all notified between families from different addresses, range between three and six associated cases.

The social outbreaks have between three and six associated cases, except one with nine cases in Gran Canaria, and the already mentioned with 13 cases in a meeting and another with 12 in a pub, both in Tenerife.

Also the work outbreaks have between three and six associated cases, except one with 19 infections produced in a birthday in Lanzarote, one with nine cases in Gran Canaria and another with seven positives notified in a store in La Palma.

The 16 educational outbreaks, all with family ramifications, range between 3 and 5 cases, except three in Tenerife (with 10, nine and eight cases) and one in Gran Canaria with seven positives.

The four sports outbreaks correspond to the already mentioned one of Fuerteventura with 14 cases linked to soccer, one in Tenerife in volleyball with four positives, one with four infections in Tenerife related to basketball and one with three infected linked to soccer in Tenerife.

Of the two health outbreaks, both notified in the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, one has 16 positives (12 patients and four workers) and another affects six people, of which four are workers and the rest relatives. In addition, a social outbreak has been notified that affects workers of the HUC and the Hospital de La Candelaria and that has 7 cases.

Also, 22 old outbreaks are still being followed up, among which stand out, for being among the most numerous, a work one with social and family ramification in Gran Canaria that has 49 cases, a health one with family work ramification notified in Hospiten Bellueve that affects 39 people, a socio-health/family/social one in the Ciudad San Juan de Dios of Gran Canaria with 30 positives, and a social one in Gran Canaria that already has 24 positives.
