The movement for the right to housing has set up a camp open to citizen participation in José Ramírez Cerdá Park, in Arrecife, as a meeting and organization space in response to the island's housing situation.

The initiative comes after a rally, a demonstration for the right to housing, and two assembly sessions in which different working groups were organized. In this process, the commission "La Casa de Todos y Todas" (The House of All of Us) has been created, aimed at coordinating meetings and actions related to housing access and precariousness.

Dozens of people are participating in the camp, located in the nerve center of the city of Arrecife, in José Ramírez Cerdá Park, under one of the pergolas designed by César Manrique, near the Music Kiosk, San Gabriel Castle, and the headquarters of the National University of Distance Education.

According to its organizers, the space will host daily meetings, assemblies, and working groups. The commission plans to use it to coordinate the movement's activities and promote citizen participation.

Participants point to the increase in housing prices, difficulties in accessing affordable rentals, real estate speculation, and situations of overcrowding and evictions as the main problems. In their opinion, these circumstances hinder emancipation and access to stable housing in Lanzarote and the entire country.

People of different ages, social groups, trade union organizations, and other movements related to the defense of labor and social rights are participating in the initiative.

The next assembly will be held on October 7 at 8:00 PM and will address the movement's next actions and lines of work.

Its members maintain that "housing cannot continue to be a privilege. It is a right" and announce that they will continue organizing to demand measures aimed at improving access to housing on the island and to show solidarity with the mobilizations and actions being developed throughout the country.
