Aguas de Lanzarote y La Graciosa informs that several power supply interruptions recorded around 4:30 PM this Tuesday, October 6,  have caused the shutdown of the plants Lanzarote III, Lanzarote V and several production lines in Janubio, affecting again the production capacity of drinking water.

The entity points out that these electrical interruptions cause the shutdown of desalination processes and can also affect pumping and boosting systems. The recovery of these facilities is not immediate once the electricity is restored, as it is necessary to carry out the start-up and stabilization operations progressively.

In this context, some suspensions planned for tonight are being brought forward. As a first measure, the suspensions that were scheduled from midnight onwards in La Villa de Teguise, Tahíche, Nazaret and Mácher have been brought forward to 6:00 PM.

Depending on the evolution of production and the levels of the reservoirs, new maneuvers may be necessary and supply suspensions, pressure drops or other effects may occur in different areas of Lanzarote and La Graciosa during the next few hours.

"The teams of Aguas de Lanzarote y La Graciosa are working on the recovery of the affected facilities and maintain continuous monitoring of production, reservoirs and the distribution network," they add from the organization.

Aguas de Lanzarote y La Graciosa recommend that the population "make responsible use of water and avoid non-essential consumption while this situation persists".
