A total of 18 Covid outbreaks have been detected in Lanzarote in the last week, according to data updated every Wednesday by the Ministry of Health. In total, 170 outbreaks have been reported in the archipelago in the last seven days, with a total of 1,065 associated cases, of which 37 have required hospital admission.
In addition to the 18 in Lanzarote, these 170 also include the two registered in La Graciosa. The rest are distributed in Tenerife with 73, Gran Canaria with 71, Fuerteventura with five and El Hierro with one.
Of the new outbreaks in the Canary Islands, the largest has occurred in Lanzarote and began in Arrecife, with a total of 24 people affected. According to the Ministry, the origin of the outbreak was work-related, although with subsequent ramifications in the social and family sphere of those affected.
As for the rest, the Ministry of Health points out that most have fewer than ten associated cases, although there is also another in Fuerteventura with 22 infected, one in Gran Canaria with 18 and two in Tenerife with another 18 each.
Regarding the scope in which the new outbreaks have occurred in the archipelago, 91 are family-related, 50 social, 21 work-related, two educational, four health-related and two socio-health-related. In this regard, the Ministry emphasizes that "most family outbreaks this week have occurred between non-cohabitants, with several addresses associated with each outbreak".
Regarding health outbreaks, two are reported at the Doctor Negrín University Hospital, one with three patients affected and another with 4 affected, 3 of them patients. The other two health outbreaks are located at the University Hospital of the Canary Islands, with 6 people affected, 4 of them workers, and at the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria Hospital, with 3 people affected, two workers and a family member.
With respect to socio-health outbreaks, this week there has been one in the Echedo Socio-health Center, in El Hierro, and another in the Mirador de Ifara center, in Tenerife, with 4 people affected, three of them in hospital admission.
