The Yaiza City Council has ordered the temporary closure of Playa Flamingo this Tuesday after a routine water quality analysis, carried out by Public Health, detected the presence of residual bacteria with biological parameters above the recommended safety limits.
This new closure due to contamination occurs on the same day, October 14, that another beach on the island, El Reducto in Arrecife, also remains closed for similar reasons.
The municipal administration has asked the public and tourists to respect the perimeter fence and the red flag raised on the beach until its reopening is decreed.
The opening notice will be issued once the results of new periodic analyses determine that the water quality is suitable for bathing. In the meantime, the City Council has indicated that the causes and origin of the polluting spills are being investigated.
