The Feminist Platform 8M Lanzarote and the Forum against Gender Violence have called on citizens to the demonstration that will take place in La Plazuela de Arrecife on Friday, March 8. At 6:00 p.m. in the afternoon, different groups from the island will read their statements and at 7:00 p.m. the demonstration route will be made

There will also be a performative space with a main message: "putting the counter to zero every year for murdered women and girls is to leave them in oblivion and despise the violence exerted, since 2003 when this counter was launched, nearly 2,000 women have been murdered, macho terrorism kills more than other forms of terror and violence."

The Feminist Platform and the Forum against Gender Violence have revealed that "feminism is now unstoppable, we see it fortunately endorsed in laws and social awareness." Thus, they have highlighted that, according to the latest CIS report, "96% of men, whatever the meaning of their vote, believe that equality between men and women makes society fairer. We are moving forward because the fight against the patriarchal system does not stop."

Both groups have indicated that "women want to share power in all areas, held by men forever, and give it another non-virile meaning, outside of domination, aggression, coercion and fear, profound changes are the only ones that will free men and women and allow us to build a better world for people, for animals and for the entire planet."

Thus, they have pointed out that "there are pillars of male domination that will not fall easily, such as prostitution, pedophilia and pornography. They move billions and consciences are broken in the face of money. Lanzarote appears as a preferred destination in the guides of world prostitution, every day women from the island are auctioned on these websites, literally."

As every year, the groups have demanded "the unity of action of all the institutions of the island, that a joint action plan be created in the short and long term, where the few resources available can be optimized and shared to make effective equality between men and women and the end of violence against us."

To conclude, they have pointed out that "rights are not given away, they are conquered by fighting and endorsed in laws" and have added: See you in the streets!"
