The neighbors of the town of Femés, in the municipality of Yaiza, once again fulfilled tradition and honored Our Lady of the Rosary on the occasion of her feast day, in a day marked by devotion, folklore, and the most deeply rooted traditions of Lanzarote.

The celebration took place on Sunday afternoon, at 6:00 PM, in the church of San Marcial del Rubicón, Patron Saint of Lanzarote, where the Eucharist was celebrated, presided over by the parish priest and Archpriest of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Yonathan Almeida.

The temple was completely full, with the presence of numerous neighbors from Femés and other nearby towns who wanted to participate in a religious celebration that once again highlighted the deep roots and devotion that the inhabitants of this town maintain towards Our Lady of the Rosary.

Once the Eucharist was over, the festive atmosphere moved to the church porch and its surroundings. There, the pilgrims, dressed in the traditional attire of Lanzarote peasants, awaited, playing guitars, timples, and other traditional instruments to welcome Our Lady of the Rosary and accompany her at the beginning of the procession.

The image of Our Lady of the Rosary paraded through the streets near the church, accompanied at all times by the celebrating priest, pilgrims who provided the music and their voices for an afternoon of tradition and gathering. The traditional songs of Lanzarote's folklore accompanied the processional route, creating a particularly emotional and festive atmosphere.

As tradition dictates, the procession also included the presence of two carts adorned with palm branches, both pulled by donkeys, a scene that helped to recover and keep alive one of the most characteristic images of the island's traditional celebrations.

After the processional route concluded, the image of Our Lady of the Rosary was placed next to the church porch where it received the folkloric offering from the members of the musical groups that had accompanied and enlivened the entire route. Music and voices once again became the protagonists of a moment dedicated to the Virgin and the popular traditions of Lanzarote.

Among the attendees was also the mayor of Yaiza Óscar Noda González, accompanied by councilors from the governing and opposition groups, all of them dressed in traditional attire, thus participating in a particularly significant day for the people of Femés.

One more year, the residents of Femés took a break from their daily tasks to support Our Lady of the Rosary and celebrate her feast day. A simple day, but full of feeling and devotion, in which tradition, music, and folklore once again occupied a prominent place, keeping alive customs that are part of the identity and collective memory of this town in the municipality of Yaiza.
