This Monday, the last goodbye took place for Pedro Méndez 'Pedrín', who passed away this Friday at 67 years of age.
'Pedrín' as he was known was a man of the sea and for the last 16 years he was in charge of the GES-Emerlan Rescue boat. Precisely his colleagues from the NGO paid him an emotional tribute, making a corridor with all the Emerlan vehicles with the priority lights on.
'Pedrín' started in 2005 as a sailor on the rescue boat of the Government of the Canary Islands and then became a skipper, being active for 17 years, during which he carried out more than 700 rescues. "He was a great person who shared his knowledge of the sea with the youngest, he was very loved in Emerlan," they say from the NGO.
The mass was celebrated in Alianza Canarias and later they moved to the Arrecife cemetery.
