The president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, wanted to congratulate on behalf of the entire Corporation the manager of the Security, Emergencies, Rescue, Prevention and Fire Extinction Consortium of the Cabildo, Enrique Espinosa, after receiving on the morning of this Friday the Medal of Merit of Civil Protection in its bronze category and with a blue badge “for his close and invaluable collaboration with the Civil Protection Unit of the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands and other security, emergency and civil protection services and organizations on the island at a preventive, operational, training and informative level.”
The Government Delegation in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria hosted the ceremony of awarding Medals of Merit for Civil Protection, in which five institutions and associations and thirteen people involved in emergencies have been recognized for their commitment to civil protection, their social exemplary nature and their effectiveness in their work.

Likewise, Betancort extended his congratulations to the rest of the people and groups from all over the Canary Islands who also received a fair recognition of their work today, as is the case of the Air and Space Army Air Search and Rescue Service of the Canary Islands for the rescue, on April 26, 2021 in El Hierro, of migrants in a boat far from the coast and in critical condition, a service of extreme professionalism and risk.
“As the new head of the area, I am pleased that Lanzarote is recognized in terms of security and emergencies, because I know that there is a human team and an exquisite coordination in the face of any threat,” declared Francisco Javier Aparicio, who, from now on, will attend to the demands of the council to guarantee the right to security and protection of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
