Elderly neighbors of Yaiza continue to enjoy diverse activities for the use of their free time and group cohesion. In fact, 60 people from the municipality have just disembarked from a week-long cruise that took them through the Canary Islands and Madeira, the first excursion of the year outside of Lanzarote organized by the southern City Council, through the Senior Citizen Care Area led by councilwoman Águeda Cedrés.
The Administration informs of the annexation of new activities to the training and leisure offer aimed at the older people of the municipality
“We carry out activities from Monday to Friday in the senior centers of Yaiza and Playa Blanca, but we also develop artistic expression workshops, crafts and handicrafts, recreational and creative activities and excursions, with a high level of satisfaction among our seniors, who are the ones who can best rate the municipal program and the attention of the monitors. The treatment of municipal staff towards seniors is truly exquisite,” emphasizes Águeda Cedrés.
To the Pilates sessions, literacy, table tennis, activation and maintenance exercises on the beach, toning, mobile phone and applications workshops and cognitive stimulation, among other regular activities, Yaiza will incorporate this year swimming classes and exercises in the pool, new macramé workshops and a workshop for the development of skills in the use of online banking.
“We are reinforcing our policy of care for the elderly with more activities and the opening of a line of subsidies to support groups in the 2026 budget that we are going to approve. All efforts are valid to avoid unwanted loneliness,” notes the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda.
