The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of Canarias has declared the situation of pre-alert for calima starting from midday this Thursday in the archipelago. As La Voz already reported, it is expected that the island will suffer a radical change of weather starting from this Thursday.
Emergencies has reported that the calima episode will begin being light in high areas of the province of Las Palmas and will end up extending through the summits of the rest of the islands. From the last hours of this Thursday, the calima will begin to accentuate in elevated areas of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, as well as in summits and mid-slopes of La Gomera and Tenerife, especially on the southern slope.
Meanwhile, below 300 meters of altitude, as well as in El Hierro and La Palma there will be less incidence. The episode of suspended dust will extend, at least, during the weekend, they could considerably increase.
This phenomenon will cause a decrease in visibility and may generate or aggravate health problems in people with chronic or respiratory diseases.
The temperature will rise gradually this Friday, when it is expected that they will experience a notable rise with minimums between 15 and 16 degrees and maximums of 29. In addition, suspended dust will be significant in the second half of the day.
