The Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) union has denounced that one of the people who demonstrated this Friday, for the negotiation of the agreements, was injured in the leg “by a pyrotechnic explosive”, causing burns.

The union demonstrated this Friday at the doors of Hiperdino Valterra around 09:30, and later, around 11:30, moved to the doors of Chacón Lanzarote.

“It was around 12:15 when up to three pyrotechnic explosives were launched at the people who were demonstrating. One of them hit one of the colleagues, causing burns to one leg, so he was transferred to the Valterra health center”, they point out from CCOO.

“Luckily, the burns are not serious, but greater damage could have occurred if it had impacted another part of the body, such as the face”, they point out from the union.

From CCOO Lanzarote they have condemned the act “against working people, who demonstrate in a totally legal and peaceful way, for an improvement in their working conditions”. “We hope that this is an isolated event, since this type of action will not stop the mobilizations in any case, which will continue to increase if there is no progress in the negotiations”, they add.

Both the union and the injured person have filed a complaint with the National Police, since some agents have moved to the area where they have demonstrated. “We hope that those responsible for this irresponsibility will be found, which puts people who are simply exercising their rights at risk”, they point out from the union.

“From CCOO Lanzarote we once again call on employers for a minimum of social responsibility and to abandon intransigent positions, which do not allow us to advance in the improvement of the most important sectors”, they demand from the union, and make a new call to the Government of the Canary Islands “to intervene in this conflict that has lasted too long, and thus end the tension generated in recent months.”
