CCOO Demonstration for Women's Day

CCOO Lanzarote celebrated this Monday a caravan demonstration for International Women's Day.

With this act, the union wanted to show its commitment "to achieving real equality between women and men and the elimination of all forms of discrimination and violence against women" and "very especially" in its field of action, the workplace.

"Ensuring that equal opportunities between women and men become a reality and that we achieve a more just, inclusive and supportive society is an inalienable principle for our organization", the union stated in its call, which also believes that "the pandemic has further highlighted the imbalances and gender inequalities between women and men and has revealed important deficits in our welfare state and social protection.

CCOO decided this year to demonstrate in a car caravan "to strictly respect the public health protection measures established by the health authorities."

The demonstration started at 10:30 a.m. from the Cabildo esplanade and toured the center of Arrecife. At the doors of its headquarters in the capital, the union proceeded to read a manifesto.
