The General Directorate of Emergencies of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has established the alert for high temperatures in the Canary Islands, leaving behind the situation of maximum alert in which the archipelago was this weekend, but still with caution.

The heat wave will not yet abandon the islands and Aemet predicts that it will not be until this Tuesday when temperatures begin to decrease slightly. While the heat episode continues to decrease progressively, maximums between 34 and 38 degrees are still expected.

The inland areas of the islands, including Lanzarote, midlands and high areas will be the most affected by high temperatures, while the tropical nights, those above 20 degrees, will remain for the moment.

The island is this Monday on orange alert for high temperatures and also on yellow alert for heat and haze for Tuesday.
