The wrestling ground 'Andrés Curbelo - Pollo de Tao' hosted the tribute to Francisco Díaz Torres, known as 'Paquito'. The event, held on Friday night, was presented by Nacho Romero, a great connoisseur of Canarian wrestling, and began with the presentation of each of the wrestlers participating in the combined teams "Club de Lucha Tao and Club de Lucha Unión Canteras". Immediately afterwards, the "Former Wrestlers of Club de Lucha Tao" also stepped onto the ground, forming the guard of honor for the honoree. When Nacho announced his presence, the public received him standing with prolonged applause while Paquito, with his hands raised, thanked all those present.
Afterwards, he took his place at the presidential table together with the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, the president of the Canarian Wrestling Federation of Lanzarote, Sebastián Lemes, and the Councilor for Sports of the Teguise City Council, Gerardo Rodríguez, beginning to develop the content of the program with the exhibition of a dance show followed by a video projection with several messages of congratulations from colleagues and friends, including a greeting from the mayor of the Teguise City Council, Oswaldo Betancort.
After the projection, Paquito stood on the stage set up in the center of the wrestling ground accompanied by his wife, where representatives of public institutions, sports clubs, commercial firms, family, colleagues and friends passed by, each contributing plaques, flowers or photos, which would be part of a recognition of Francisco Díaz Romero - Paquito, described by all as a good, generous person, a great wrestler who has done a commendable and tireless job for Canarian wrestling. Without a doubt, one of the most emotional moments occurred when his little grandson, wearing the colors of Club de Lucha Tao, went on stage to give a gift to his grandfather, who very emotionally took him in his arms, hugging and kissing him, with the whole family coming on stage.
Once the deliveries were finished, the wrestling match between the "Combined Teams A" began, formed by the wrestlers of Club de Lucha Tao acting as commanders, Sergio Mateo and Miguel A. Betancort, "Combined Team B" formed by the wrestlers of Club de Lucha Unión Canteras acting as commanders Ramón González and Manuel Martín with the final result of "Combined Team A 10" and "Combined Team B 13", with the wrestlers Miguel Reyes, Tino Rodríguez and Eusebio Díaz remaining standing. The two combined teams presented each of the representative shirts signed by the wrestlers to Paquito and to the collaborating firms, Autos Cabrera Medina and Seguridad Viggan.
