The association Aspercan Lanzarote paid tribute this Tuesday to Alberto Espino Fuentes, a 3rd year ESO student from the San Bartolomé institute with Asperger's syndrome. This congratulation coincided with his birthday and was "doubled: for his brilliant career in artistic gymnastics, and how far he has come (and will come) thanks to his daily effort", according to the Asperger Islas Canarias association in Lanzarote. Thus, he has congratulated his work and highlighted him as a "clear example of overcoming challenges, on his part and those around him".
Alberto Espino Fuentes, fifteen years old, was diagnosed with five of ADHD and, the following year, with Asperger's, according to ASPERCAN Lanzarote.
"At that young age he already started in the world of male artistic gymnastics, after seeing an exhibition where Verónica, his sister, participated," they said. From the association they pointed out that at that moment he was "clear that he wanted to do that, so he began to train at the Isla Lanzarote Gymnastics Club with his coach Francisco José, two days a week for an hour." He currently trains from Monday to Saturday.
In 2012 Espino "participated in his first Tello Nuñez Tournament in Gran Canaria, in 2013 he participated in his first Canary Islands Championship and his first Spanish Championship in Valencia and in 2015 he went to his first International competition in Portugal", they pointed out from the association. After this, "more championships have followed", they have assured from Aspercan.

According to the association, "although Alberto says he gets overwhelmed at times, especially when there are exhibitions, since the level of demand is high, he has been adapting to the pace of work of his Club." Likewise, they have emphasized that he says that "although no one is essential, each one occupies their place in the exhibition team, which is unique." "Hence the level of commitment is maximum for him", they have asserted from Aspercan, who have added that "having to work in a group costs him much more than in the competition team where his training is individual." However, Alberto "has known, with the help of his coaches and teammates, to adapt and integrate into the team, being understood and accepted by all".
One of the objectives of ASPERCAN is to raise awareness, sensitize and inform about Asperger's syndrome. "We like everyone to know and value the potential that these children can have and the challenges that, with their perseverance, dedication and interest, they are able to achieve," they highlighted from the association.
