The Official College of Architects of Lanzarote celebrated last Tuesday, October 10, at its headquarters, the act of handover and inauguration of the members of the new Governing Board, elected after the recent electoral process. The new Governing Board is made up of Alberto Lasso Hernández, as dean, Esteban Gil Páez, as secretary, Maximiliano Valero Padilla, as treasurer and Jorge Armas González as member.
In the inauguration ceremony, the new dean declared that "The incoming Board wants to thank the support of the members" and highlighted "the work and dedication" of the members of the outgoing Board who have helped the growth of this professional association. In turn, Alberto Lasso wanted to extend his gratitude "to all the members of the Board who participated in the creation of the Official College of Architects of Lanzarote".
Likewise, the new management team stated that it is available to members, social agents, residents and administrations to contribute to the "improvement of the quality" of life of the people of Lanzarote, with the continuation of service to society, through the active participation of debates on architecture, urbanism and city. Lasso, on behalf of the new Board, concluded his speech assuring that the service provided to society must be "maintained so that citizens value Lanzarote's architecture, promoting debates that allow contributing to improve the balance between territory, heritage, aesthetics, tourism and respect for the island's environment".
The College, which currently represents a total of 118 members, was born with the publication in 2017 of the Autonomous Decree 118/2017, by which it is segregated from the Interinsular Official College of Architects of the Canary Islands, and is recognized as a Corporation of Public Law as the Official College of Architects of Lanzarote, with its own legal personality and full capacity to fulfill its purposes and exercise its functions.
