The board of directors of Adislan has sent a new statement in which it states that it is "totally in agreement" with the Cabildo that it is "urgent that the current contractual situation be regularized" of the public services that it has been managing for years, but insists on rejecting the public tender announced by the Island Corporation. According to the association itself, this year they will receive from the Cabildo "2,128,934.80 euros for services for adults and 377,054.64 euros for the Early Care service", without a contract that gives it coverage.
"The families of the entity, what they request from the Island Council of Lanzarote is that it be regularized in accordance with alternative proposals that fit in law and in law, and that the formula of common bidding is not used, where private companies created for profit are accommodated. We reiterate as families that this is a risk for our children/as and brothers/as, and we ask that the Cabildo de Lanzarote prioritize fundamental aspects in the services, such as personalized and comprehensive care, experience and professional background, social roots, permanence of users in their context that favors continuity in care, the maximum well-being of the people cared for and budgetary efficiency, which is what the third sector offers, and in this case Adislan in the management of public services", they defend in the statement sent by the management.
"Parents and/or siblings of people with intellectual disabilities want services for their children/as and siblings/as that offer them support, not only to guarantee care and improve the provision of the same, but we want services where they are considered citizens of rights, where their times are respected to participate in their own lives and in the life of the community, based on the promotion of autonomy, independent living, active participation and universal accessibility. Limiting oneself to the provision of services from a socio-health conception is to focus solely on the therapeutic and rehabilitation process, which does not strengthen rights", they maintain.
Regarding the contest, they point out that they "applaud" that resources are going to be improved for the Care of People with Disabilities in Lanzarote, although they add that Adislan "has been requesting an increase in funding from the public administration for a long time, since the budget deficits of some essential services have been communicated on repeated occasions", which they claim to have financed "with their own funds in recent years".
"But we want to state that the quality of services not only has to do with the allocation of money, but with how that money is used. The care of people with intellectual disabilities in an advanced society, as we intend Lanzarote to be, must promote that each person in a situation of vulnerability has the best possible functioning and enjoys full citizenship in rights and opportunities, in the least intrusive way possible and in a normalized environment", they reiterate, defending that "Adislan works with this vision, because its mission, values and management body demand it, offering a personalized model that promotes inclusion and participation in equal rights".
