The Cabildo responds to Adislan and affirms that after the tender the service "will improve considerably."

"We cannot continue to maintain an absolutely anomalous and irregular inherited situation, so it is a priority to regularize the contract for the provision of the service that this association has been carrying out until now", says councilor Isabel Martín

"The steps being taken by the Cabildo will not only guarantee the care service for people with intellectual disabilities on our island, but will undoubtedly improve it considerably." This is how the Councilor for the Area of Social Welfare, Isabel Martín, responded to the criticisms of Adislan, which this week staged a protest in front of the Corporation, rejecting that the service it has been providing for years will be put out to tender.

"The first Island Corporation and the entire Social Welfare team have been working for months to find a solution to an inherited and absolutely anomalous and irregular situation that affects the care service for people with intellectual disabilities and their families," Martín stressed, who pointed out that the objective is "to guarantee and improve the provision of this essential service for the care of these vulnerable people and their respective families."

The councilor recalled that "for years, the Association of Disabled People of Lanzarote (ADISLAN) has been carrying out this service for an amount of around 2.7 million euros." However, "there is no contract between the Lanzarote Cabildo and this entity, a situation that must be regularized as soon as possible for the good of all and, fundamentally, for the good of the dependent people and their families who need these services."

"For too many years, things have not been done well in this Cabildo and the only person responsible is former president San Ginés," laments Isabel Martín. "Now, there are new times, where rigor, transparency and honesty do go hand in hand and we must correct these detected situations, especially when it comes to the well-being of people," she defended.

Martín has reiterated that "it is urgent to regularize this and other contracts that are in a similar situation and attend to the recognized rights with the rigor and quality required by law", and wanted to send a message of "tranquility" to the workers of Adislan, as well as to the families of the users of this service, insisting that its correct provision will be guaranteed.
