On the occasion of World Breast Cancer Day, the Association of Oncohematological Families of Lanzarote (AFOL) gathered about 450 people on Sunday morning in the tent set up at the Arrecife Fairgrounds to kick off the Walk Against Cancer.

Ten years have passed since the first step was taken, a decade covering different points and municipalities of Lanzarote, turning each stride into an act of solidarity, unity, and commitment to those most in need.

This year, the walk celebrates its tenth edition in a very special way, coinciding with the association's 25th anniversary. Twenty-five years growing together and building an unwavering support network in Lanzarote and La Graciosa. To celebrate it as it deserves, AFOL is starting again and resuming the path through different municipalities, taking a second lap. The goal is to reconnect with familiar faces, welcome new participants, and once again fill every corner with enthusiasm and hope.

At 10:30 AM, the president of AFOL, Carmen Arrocha, welcomed everyone present and, very specially, a group of people from the Association Against Metastatic Breast Cancer of Fuerteventura, to whom she thanked for their fight in search of resources and research.

Next, the reading of the manifesto began, with very interesting and demanding content, in which it was insisted that the fight must continue because cancer does not stop.

After the reading of the manifesto, the walk began to the rhythm of the batucada Los Cumbacheros, from Tahíche, which accompanied the route in different settings.

In this edition, the itinerary started from the Arrecife Fairgrounds and covered the city's maritime coast, entering through Calle Real and El Charco de San Ginés. The route turned the capital into an authentic "pink tide," transforming its color for a few hours.

The walk returned to the starting point, where, to the rhythm of the batucada Los Cumbacheros de Tahíche, the solidarity initiative "We Walk with Cancer" concluded, on the occasion of World Breast Cancer Day.
