A total of eleven teachers from eight centers in the Canary Islands have received the European eTwinning Quality Label 2020 for 19 educational projects. Among them is a teacher from IES Las Maretas in Arrecife, Jesús Vázquez, who has been the only Lanzarote native to receive this award. Along with him, Antonio Puerta, María José Benítez, Laura Colino and Cecilia Cantizano, from CEIP Juan del Río Ayala (Santa Brígida); Ruymán Rodríguez, from CEIP Camino de la Villa (San Cristóbal de La Laguna); Rosa Delia del Pino, from CEIP Las Vegas (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria); Anette Westertop, from CEIP La Rosa-Camino viejo (El Paso); David Lorenzo, from the Pureza de María school (Los Realejos); Virginia Falcón, from IES Corralejo (Corralejo) and María Isabel Pérez, from IES Bañaderos-Cipriano Acosta (Arucas) have been distinguished.

This is a recognition from the European Central Support Service for the eTwining Project (which is part of Erasmus+, the European Union's program in education, training, youth and sport) to the work and good work of educational centers and teachers, who, previously, have obtained the national quality seal, which is a double prize.

The eTwinning project is an initiative of the European Commission that aims to promote school collaboration through Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). To this end, it provides a platform and infrastructure, online tools, services and support to teachers and management teams of schools in participating European countries.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Universities and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, María Dolores Rodríguez, has expressed her satisfaction with this distinction, which, she said, "shows the involvement of teachers in the islands and their commitment to the quality of public education and educational innovation. "eTwining is a valuable pedagogical tool that allows us to continue internationalizing our education," she said.

Rodríguez has also congratulated the educational centers and teachers whose projects have been awarded and has recognized their effort and good results achieved within the framework of this project.
