Maritime Rescue has rescued this Thursday a new boat that has been intercepted in waters near Lanzarote. The boat was rescued at around 1:00 p.m.
On the boat were 56 men, including 6 minors of Maghrebi origin, and one of them had to be transferred to the José Molina Orosa Hospital, CECOES reports. A number of rescued people that vary, since the EFE agency publishes that there were 16 minors traveling on the boat. After the rescue, after 2:00 p.m., they were transferred to the Arrecife Commercial pier.
The rescue occurred in territorial waters, 11 nautical miles, 20 kilometers east of Lanzarote, shortly after one of the immigrants traveling on board the boat alerted 112 by calling and the fishing vessel Santuario Barquereño, which was fishing in the area, spotted the boat, remaining next to it until the arrival of the rescue ship.
With this new rescue, there would already be 169 people who have arrived on the island in the last 48 hours.
