A mother residing in Lanzarote is making a desperate appeal to raise funds to pay for therapy to treat her ten-year-old daughter, a victim of sexual abuse.
The girl was abused by her mother's sister-in-law's brother, a 37-year-old man, between May 2022 and November 30 of that same year. The minor told her school teacher what was happening to her. That's how her parents found out, according to Eva Martínez Navarro, a friend of the mother who has started a money-raising campaign on the Gofundme platform in order to pay for the victim's psychological treatment.
The girl has already had three suicide attempts and, with the exception of her parents, Eva says, "they don't believe her, they think she's making it up," in relation to the practices she has suffered.
Her parents lack sufficient economic resources and "cannot afford the mandatory and urgent support they need." The money raised will be deposited "entirely into the account of the private child psychologist we have contacted and who is available to treat her," says the promoter of the solidarity initiative.
According to the friend of the girl's mother, "we have contacted several associations and the Cabildo and they only attend to people over 14 years of age. The Psychology appointment by Social Security was canceled without prior notice and they have not scheduled a new one. The complaints, both from the school and from the mother, are stalled."
