The newly created Save Caleta de Famara platform has called a demonstration this Thursday, February 29, in front of the Teguise Town Hall headquarters. Specifically, the concentration is scheduled for 12:00 in the morning.
This citizen initiative arose just a few weeks ago to denounce that the fishing village of Famara had become a "huge parking lot" after a decision by the Teguise Town Hall.
In particular, the council closed two lanes open to traffic in the town to install dozens of parking spaces, which for this platform clashes with the values of La Caleta, a traditionally fishing village and famous for its unpaved streets.
From Salvemos Famara they have highlighted that the town has become "a massive parking lot", while the protected areas are still "full of cars because the police do not fine them and people do not want to walk 100 meters."
To conclude, he has invited the authorities to abandon power "if they do not understand the value of our natural environment. What joke is this? We want them to take care of Famara, not destroy it."
