A blue marlin, weighing about 300 kilos, was found dead this Wednesday in Papagayo, south of Lanzarote. The guards of the Natural Monument of Los Ajaches have observed the animal floating about 40 meters from the coast.
A swimmer has tried to drag the fish to the shore while the Local Police of Yaiza and Civil Protection arrived. However, the current has moved the volunteer and the animal away from the coast.

At that moment, the security and emergency forces were forced to warn the swimmer by megaphone of the danger that could be involved in persisting in this attempt. Finally, the swimmer heeded the suggestion and immediately returned to the shore.
In this way, it was the Local Police who rescued the animal's corpse, helped by a zodiac. The fish, which was in an advanced state of decomposition, has been transferred to the Marina Rubicón marina in Playa Blanca.
